Climate of Thailand
Brief | History | Art and Culture | People | Customs

"There are three seasons in Thailand: hot, rainy and cool."

Climate of Thailand

But to the tourist winging in from a temperate zone, Thailand, and notably Bangkok, has only one temperature: hot. The temperature drops only a few degrees at night and is accompanied day and night by humidity above 70 percent.

Chiang Mai in the north enjoys a cooler climate. In the cool season, temperatures range between 13ºC and 28ºC (55ºF and 82ºF); higher up in the hills, the temperatures are even cooler. As in Bangkok, the heaviest rain falls in September and the streets are often flooded.

In Phuket, the monsoon begins in early May and generally ends late in October. Temperatures range from 34ºC (93ºF) in the hot season to night temperatures of 21ºC (70ºF) in the cool season. The ocean's temperature never drops below 20ºC (67ºF).

Seasons: Hot: March to mid-June 28ºC-38ºC (82ºF-100ºF) Rainy: June to October 24ºC-32ºC (75ºC-90ºF) Cool: November to February 18ºC-32ºC (65ºF-90ºF), but with less humidity
