Overview:The Regent is located about 20 minutes from the city of Chiang Mai and its airport. The property itself is located in an area called Mae Rim and rests adjacent to some working rice fields. Even though it's mountainous, Northern Thailand stays very warm. Therefore, all the common areas, except for the main restaurant, are open thatched-roof design. As a result, the entire property maintains an open, airy feel. The foliage is the densest and lush that almost like a rain forest, and there is water everywhere because of the rice fields. To add to all that moisture, afternoon rain showers are very common and usually welcome. The property takes on an almost mystical feel when it rains. It's truly one great experience of being in Mae Rim.
 
The Room: Made almost entirely of teak, they are so cool and relaxing that guest never want to leave. All have covered porches attached to the room by a small private walkway. The room and the porch both have ceiling fans. Additionally, the bathrooms are teak-lined and look out onto a private garden. The entire wall between the bathroom and the garden is glass.

Sala Mae Rim The resort's Thai restaurant features the finest in Thai cuisine including both northern and vegetarian specialties.
