Sightseeing in Bangkok, The Emrald Buddha Temple

Bangkok's major landmark is the Grand Palace, a walled city which was gradually enlarged by monarchs of the Chakri Dynasty. The complex contains royal house hold offices. The Chakri hall, a striking example of Italian architecture surmounted by a Thai roof. Wat Phra Kaeo which houses Thailand's most revered image "The Emerald Buddha." The Image is carved out of solid, translucent, emerald-like jasper. It is about 31 inches in height, and sits on a golden throne 34 feet high. Wat Pho, with its huge Reclining Buddha, covered entirely in gold leaf.

Other well-known temples are, Wat Trimitr with its 5.5 tons Buddha images is one of the largest images in the kingdom and Wat Benchamabopit, also know as the Marble Temple. The Thonburi Canals and the Temple of Dawn which are on the bank of the Chao Phya River.

The Rose Garden, about 30 kilometers from the city, which features a Thai Village Shows. Other places of interest include, a rural Floating Market at Damneon Saduak. The new Crocodile Farm which is 3 kilometers from Rose Garden. The Ancient City, the world's largest outdoor museum or ancient Thai temples and palaces.
